When can massage places open? Very, very soon!

When can massage places open? Very, very soon!

Have you heard the good news?

On Monday July 9th, the UK government announced new rules surrounding the reopening of massage parlours, spas and beauticians.

The update means massages in the UK can now take place from Monday 13th July provided new COVID-19 guidance measures are met.

New government measures

On the government website, it states: “Beauty salons, nail bars, tattoo and massage studios, physical therapy businesses and spas across England will be able to reopen safely from Monday 13 July under new government plans.

“Updated COVID-19 secure guidance sets out the measures that those providing close contact services should follow to protect staff and customers.”

The government acknowledges that in some instances whilst treatment is being provided, the 2 metre social distancing rule cannot be met.

So, to combat this, the person providing the treatment or service should wear further protection in addition to any that they may usually wear.

Wear further protection

This should be a clear visor that covers the face, or the use of a screen or other barrier that protects the practitioner and the customer from respiratory droplets caused by sneezing, coughing or speaking.

The Business Secretary, Alok Sharma added: “We have been clear throughout this crisis that we want as many businesses as possible to reopen, but we must be confident it is safe for them to do so.

“From Monday 13th July thousands of more businesses which offer close contact services like nail and beauty salons will be able to welcome customers back in a way that is safe for both workers and the public.

“Enabling these often small, independent businesses to reopen is yet another step in our plan to kickstart the economy to support jobs and incomes across the country.”

COVID-19 Hygiene policy

We have already updated our hygiene policy with it comes to coronavirus.

This is because our duty of care is at the forefront of all we do at Make Movements.

Wellbeing is our currency and we wish to keep delivering a little dose of this through our mobile massages. But in the safest manner possible.

Since coronavirus struck, we’ve undertaken numerous COVID-19 hygiene courses for when at-home massage treatments can commence.

We will be updating our COVID-19 hygiene policy even further, by making it mandatory that all therapists use a clear visor that covers the face, or the use of a screen or other barrier that protects the practitioner and the customer

They will also be wearing gloves whilst treating.
